Director to Introduce Documentary Film at Sarratt Cinema

photographicmemoryDirector Ross McElwee’s film, Photographic Memory, is a documentary about how we process the past in order to understand the present and shape the future. McElwee will introduce the film and lead a discussion after the 7:30 p.m. screening at Sarratt Cinema on Thursday, September 12.

To understand the growing distance between himself and his son, McElwee travels back to Saint Quay-Portrieux in the region of Brittany, France, to retrace his own journey into adulthood. The film, in English and French with English subtitles, becomes a meditation on the passing of time, the praxis of photography and film, digital versus analog, and the fractured love of a father for his son.
